حَدَّثَنَا الْمِقْدَامُ، ثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، ثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ أُكْسُومٍ الصَّدَفِيِّ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ الْبَرَحِيِّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ يُحَدِّثُ

أَنَّ خَصْمَيْنِ اخْتَصَمَا إِلَى عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ فَقَضَى بَيْنَهُمَا، فَسَخِطَ الْمَقْضِيُّ عَلَيْهِ فَأَتَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: إِذَا قَضَى الْقَاضِي فَاجْتَهَدَ فَأَصَابَ فَإِنَّ لَهُ عَشَرَةَ أُجُورٍ، وَإِذَا اجْتَهَدَ فَأَخْطَأَ كَانَ لَهُ أَجْرَانِ

✧ Two adversaries brought a dispute before 'Amr b. al-'As, and he judged between them. The one against whom judgment was given was displeased, so he went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When a judge judges and strives, then if he is correct, he has ten rewards; and if he strives and errs, he has two rewards."
