حَدَّثَنَا مِقْدَامٌ، ثَنَا أَبُو الْأَسْوَدِ، ثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَسْوَدِ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ

أَنَّ بَرِيرَةَ كَانَتْ تَحْتَ مَمْلُوكٍ فَلَمَّا عَتَقَتْ قَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: أَنْتِ أَمْلَكُ بِنَفْسِكِ إِنْ شِئْتِ أَقَمْتِ مَعَ زَوْجِكِ، وَإِنْ شِئْتِ فَارَقْتِيهِ مَا لَمْ يَمَسَّكِ ".

✧ Barirah was married to a slave. When she was freed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her: You have more right to yourself. If you wish, remain with your husband; and if you wish, separate from him, as long as he has not touched you.
