حَدَّثَنَا مِقْدَامٌ: ثَنَا أَصْبَغُ: ثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو صَخْرٍ، أَنَّ يَحْيَى بْنَ النَّضْرِ، حَدَّثَهُ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ قَالَ:
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ: أَلَا إِنَّ النَّاسَ دِثَارٌ، وَإِنَّ الْأَنْصَارَ شِعَارٌ، وَلَوْ أَنَّ النَّاسَ سَلَكُوا وَادِيًا، وَسَلَكَتِ الْأَنْصَارُ شُعْبَةً لَاتَّبَعْتُ شُعْبَةَ الْأَنْصَارِ، وَلَوْلَا الْهِجْرَةُ لَكُنْتُ امْرَأً مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ، فَمَنْ وَلِيَ مِنْ أَمْرِهِمْ شَيْئًا فَلْيُحْسِنْ إِلَى مُحْسِنِهِمْ، وَلْيَتَجَاوَزْ عَنْ مُسِيئِهِمْ، وَمَنْ أَفْزَعَهُمْ فَقَدْ أَفْزَعَ هَذَا الَّذِي بَيْنَ هَذَيْنِ " وَأَشَارَ إِلَى صَدْرِهِ يَعْنِي: قَلْبَهُ
Translation

✧ I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say on the minbar: 'Indeed the people are the outer garment, and the Ansar are the inner garment. If the people were to take one valley and the Ansar another, I would follow the valley of the Ansar. Were it not for the Hijrah, I would have been a man of the Ansar. Whoever is put in charge of any of their affairs, let him be good to their good-doers and overlook their wrongdoers. And whoever frightens them has frightened this which is between these two,' and he pointed to his chest, meaning his heart.
