✧ There will be after me twelve caliphs, among them Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq, who will not remain after me except a short while, and the owner of the millstone of the Arab domain, who will live praiseworthy and die as a martyr.” A man said: “Who is he?” He said: “ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb.” Then the Messenger of God ﷺ turned to ʿUthmān b. ʿAffān and said: “O ʿUthmān, if God clothes you with a shirt and the people want you to take it off, do not take it off. For by God, if you take it off, you will not see Paradise until the camel enters the eye of the needle.”
