✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ prayed with the people, then he removed his sandals. When the people sensed that, they removed their sandals. When he finished the prayer, he turned to the people and said: "The angel came to me and informed me that there was some impurity on my sandals. So when one of you comes to the door of the mosque, let him turn over his sandals; if he sees anything in them, let him wipe them, then pray in them if he wishes, or remove them."

  • Abū al-Ḥasan Nur al-Dīn ʿAlī b. Abi Bakr al-Haythamī

    in المعجم الأوسط, p. 8743
  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationAl-Sakhtiyānī narrates it, and there is disagreement about him. ʿAbbād b. Kathīr narrated it from Ayyūb, from Ibn Sīrīn, from Abū Hurayrah, and he erred (wahima) in it. Maʿmar narrated it from Ayyūb, from Abū Naʿāmah, from Abū Naḍrah as a mursal report (mursal). Ḥammād b. Salamah narrated it from Abū Naʿāmah, from Abū Naḍrah, from Abū Saʿīd, and this is the correct (ṣawāb) version.

    in المعجم الأوسط, p. 8743
  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationAbū Nuʿāmah narrates it from Abū Naḍrah, from Abū Saʿīd. Ḥammād b. Salamah, al-Ḥajjāj b. al-Ḥajjāj, Abū ʿĀmir al-Khazzāz and ʿImrān al-Qaṭṭān reported it. It is also reported from Ayyūb al-Sakhtiyānī, from Abū Nuʿāmah, as a mursal report. Whoever said in it "from Ayyūb, from Ibn Sīrīn, from Abū Hurayrah" has made an error. The correct account is that Ayyūb heard it from Abū Nuʿāmah and did not remember its chain, so he transmitted it as mursal. The correct view is the statement of those who said "from Abū Saʿīd".
