✧ One day I was in the mosque when Abu Jahl approached and said: 'I vow to God that if I see Muhammad prostrating, I will trample on his neck.' I went out to the Messenger of God ﷺ and entered upon him and told him what Abu Jahl had said. He went out ﷺ angry until he entered the mosque. He hastened to enter through the door, then leaped over the wall. I said: 'This is a day of evil.' I wrapped my lower garment around me, then followed him. I entered while the Messenger of God ﷺ was reciting: 'Read in the name of your Lord who created, created man from a clinging clot.' When he reached the passage about Abu Jahl: 'No! Surely man transgresses, when he sees himself as self-sufficient,' a man said to Abu Jahl: 'O Abu al-Hakam, this is Muhammad.' Abu Jahl said: 'Do you not see what I see? By God, the horizon of the sky has been blocked from me.' When the Messenger of God ﷺ reached the end of the surah, he prostrated.
