✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: I broke the fast on a day of Ramadan. He said: "Without excuse or journey?" He said: Yes. He said: "Evil is what you have done." He said: Indeed, so what do you command me? He said: "Free a slave." He said: By the One who sent you with the truth, I have never owned a slave. He said: "Then fast two consecutive months." He said: I am not able to do that. He said: "Then feed sixty poor persons." He said: By the One who sent you with the truth, I do not fill my own family. He said: Then the Prophet ﷺ was brought a basket in which there were dates, and he said: "Give this as charity to sixty poor persons." He said: To whom shall I give it, O Messenger of Allah? He said: "To the poorest person you know." He said: There is no household more needy than us. He said: "Then return with it to your dependents."
