✧ I was holding the halter of the Messenger of Allah’s ﷺ she-camel, leading him, and ʿAmmār was driving it, or ʿAmmār was leading him and I was driving it, when twelve men with covered faces met us. He said, “These are the hypocrites until the Day of Resurrection.” We said, “O Messenger of Allah, will you not send for each man among them and kill him?” He said, “I dislike that people should say that Muhammad kills his companions; and perhaps Allah will suffice us against them with the dubaylah.” We said, “What is the dubaylah?” He said, “A flame of fire that is placed on the vein of the heart of one of them and kills him.”
