✧ When the Prophet ﷺ established brotherhood between his Companions, between the Muhājirūn and the Anṣār, and he did not establish brotherhood between ‘Alī b. Abī Ṭālib and anyone among them, ‘Alī went out angry until he came to a small stream of the earth and rested his head upon his forearm, and the wind blew dust upon him. The Prophet ﷺ sought him until he found him, and he nudged him with his foot, and said to him: “Arise, for you are only fit to be Abū Turāb. Are you angry with me because I established brotherhood between the Muhājirūn and the Anṣār and did not establish brotherhood between you and any one of them? Are you not pleased that you are to me in the position of Hārūn to Mūsā, except that there will be no prophet after me? Indeed, whoever loves you will be surrounded by security and faith, and whoever hates you, Allah will cause him to die a death of the pre-Islamic ignorance and will hold him to account for his deeds in Islam.”
