✧ Ma'iz b. Malik came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "I have committed adultery." He turned away from him. Then he came to him again and said, "I have committed adultery." He turned away from him, until he came to him four times. Then he ordered that he be stoned. When the stones struck him, he turned and ran. A man met him and struck him with the jawbone of a camel, knocking him down. His flight when the stones touched him was mentioned to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said, "Why did you not leave him?"
