✧ I performed the Hajj with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I was between the neck of the Prophet's ﷺ she-camel while she was chewing her cud and her saliva was flowing between my shoulders, and I heard him say: Verily, Allah has given every possessor of a right his right; there is no bequest to an heir; the child belongs to the bed, and the fornicator gets the stone.

- Shafiʿī
machine translationAl-Shāfiʿī inclined in al-Umm to the view that this text is mass-transmitted (mutawātir), and said: "We found the people of legal rulings, and those of the people of knowledge of the military expeditions (maghāzī) among Quraysh and others whom we have memorized from, not disagreeing that the Prophet ﷺ said in the year of the Conquest: 'There is no bequest for an heir.' And they transmit it from those of the people of knowledge whom they met and from whom they memorized it. So it is a transmission of the many from the many, and it is stronger than the transmission of a single person."
