حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثَنَا أَبُو الْأَشْعَثِ، ثَنَا أَصْرَمُ بْنُ حَوْشَبٍ، ثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ وَاصِلٍ، عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ:

قُلْنَا لِعَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ: حَدِّثْنَا بِمَا سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَرَأَيْتَ مِنْهُ، وَلَا تُحَدِّثْنَا عَنْ غَيْرِكَ، وَإِنْ كَانَ ثِقَةً. قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: مَا بَيْنَ السُّرَّةِ إِلَى الرُّكْبَةِ عَوْرَةٌ

Translation

✧ We said to 'Abdullah b. Ja'far: 'Narrate to us what you heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and what you saw of him, and do not narrate to us from anyone else, even if he is trustworthy.' He said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "What is between the navel and the knee is 'awrah."'
