حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ، نَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، نَا أَبُو زُهَيْرٍ، نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كُرَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ قَالَ:
جِئْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ: تُوُفِّيَتْ أُمِّي، وَلَمْ تُوصِ، وَلَمْ تَتَصَدَّقْ، فَهَلْ يُقْبَلُ إِنْ تَصَدَّقْتُ عَنْهَا ؟ قَالَ: " نَعَمْ " قَالَ: فَهَلْ يَنْفَعُهَا ذَلِكَ ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، وَلَوْ بِكُرَاعِ شَاةٍ مُحْتَرِقٍ.

✧ I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: 'My mother died and she did not make a will or give charity. Will it be accepted if I give charity on her behalf?' He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Will that benefit her?' He said: 'Yes, even if it is with a burnt sheep's trotter.'
