حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ، ثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْمُفَضَّلِ الْحَرَّانِيُّ، ثَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ أَبُو عَتَّابٍ، نَا مُوسَى بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ أَبُو هَارُونَ الْكُوفِيُّ، ثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ صِلَةَ بْنِ زُفَرَ قَالَ:

كَانَ عَلِيٌّ، إِذَا ذُكِرَ عِنْدَهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ قَالَ: " السَّبَّاقَ تَذْكُرُونَ، السَّبَّاقَ تَذْكُرُونَ، وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ مَا اسْتَبَقْنَا إِلَى خَيْرٍ قَطُّ إِلَّا سَبَقَنَا إِلَيْهِ أَبُو بَكْرٍ

✧ When Abu Bakr was mentioned in his presence, Ali would say: 'You mention the foremost one, you mention the foremost one. By Him in Whose hand is my soul, we never raced to any good but Abu Bakr beat us to it.'
