حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ، نَا زُنَيْجٌ، ثَنَا أَبُو تُمَيْلَةَ يَحْيَى بْنُ وَاضِحٍ، نَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ وَاقِدٍ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ أَبِي النَّجُودِ، عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ قَالَ:

جَاءَ ابْنُ جُرْمُوزٍ يَسْتَأْذِنُ عَلَى عَلِيٍّ، فَقَالَ: بَشِّرْ قَاتِلَ الزُّبَيْرِ بِالنَّارِ، سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ: إِنَّ لِكُلِّ نَبِيٍّ حَوَارِيًّا، وَإِنَّ الزُّبَيْرَ حَوَارِيِّي.

✧ Ibn Jurmuz came asking permission to enter upon Ali. He said, “Give the killer of al-Zubayr tidings of the Fire. I heard the Prophet ﷺ say: ‘Every prophet has a disciple (hawari), and al-Zubayr is my disciple.’”

Sallām Abū al-Mundhir contradicted them and narrated it from ʿĀṣim, from Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Sulamī, from ʿAlī. The preserved (maḥfūẓ) version is the hadith of Zirr.
