machine translationQatādah narrates it from Abū Mijlaz, and there is disagreement about it from him. Sufyān al-Thawrī and Khālid al-Ṭaḥḥān both narrated it from al-Masʿūdī, from Qatādah, from Abū Mijlaz, from Abū ʿUbaydah, from ʿAbdullāh, connected and attributed (musnad). Others narrate it from al-Masʿūdī, from Qatādah, from Abū Mijlaz, from Abū ʿUbaydah, from the Prophet ﷺ, as a mursal report. Abū Hurayrah Muḥammad b. ʿAlī b. Ḥamzah b. Ṣāliḥ al-Anṭākī narrated to us, he said: It was read to Abū Mālik Aḥmad b. Ibrāhīm b. Muḥammad b. Bakkār al-Busrī while I was listening: Sulaymān b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to us, Ṣalt b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to us, Sufyān al-Thawrī narrated to us, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. ʿAbdullāh al-Masʿūdī, from Qatādah, from Abū Mijlaz, from Abū ʿUbaydah, from ʿAbdullāh, he said: The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "If one of you points a spear at a man, even if its tip is at the hollow of his throat, and he says 'There is no god but God', let him lift the spear off him." Abū ʿUbaydah said: God made this word a security for the Muslim and a protection for his blood and property, and made the jizyah a security for the disbeliever and a protection for his property and blood. Ṣalt b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Zubaydī was alone in narrating it from al-Thawrī. It seems he was a Kufan, except that he narrated in Damascus.
