حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، ثَنَا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، ثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، نَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ الْجُذَامِيُّ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَحْمَرَ، أَنَّهُ
لَمَّا بَلَغَهُ قُدُومُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَفَدَ إِلَيْهِ، فَقَبِلَ إِسْلَامَهُ، وَسَأَلَهُ أَنْ يَكْتُبَ لَهُ كِتَابًا يَدْعُو بِهِ إِلَى الْإِسْلَامِ، فَكَتَبَ لَهُ فِي رُقْعَةٍ مِنْ أَدَمٍ: بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ، هَذَا كِتَابٌ مِنْ مُحَمَّدٍ رَسُولِ اللهِ لِمَالِكِ بْنِ أَحْمَرَ، وَلِمَنِ اتَّبَعَهُ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ، أَمَانًا لَهُمْ مَا أَقَامُوا الصَّلَاةَ، وَآتَوُا الزَّكَاةَ، وَاتَّبَعُوا الْمُسْلِمِينَ، وَجَانَبُوا الْمُشْرِكِينَ، وَأَدَّوُا الْخُمُسَ مِنَ الْمَغْنَمِ، وَسَهْمَ الْغَارِمِينَ، وَسَهْمَ كَذَا، وَسَهْمَ كَذَا، فَهُمْ آمِنُونَ بِأَمَانِ اللهِ وَأَمَانِ مُحَمَّدٍ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ

✧ When news reached him of the arrival of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he came to him as a delegate, accepted Islam, and asked him to write a document for him by which he would call to Islam. He wrote for him on a piece of leather: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. This is a document from Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah, for Malik b. Ahmar and those Muslims who follow him, granting them security as long as they establish prayer, give zakat, follow the Muslims, avoid the polytheists, and render the fifth of the spoils, and the share of the debtors, and the share of such-and-such, and the share of such-and-such. They are secure with the protection of Allah and the protection of Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
