✧ When God defeated the polytheists on the day of Hawazin at Hunayn, the Messenger of God ﷺ appointed Abu 'Amir al-Ash'ari over the cavalry of pursuit. He pursued them, and among those he pursued, Ibn Durayd ibn al-Simmah confronted him. Ibn Durayd turned to him and killed Abu 'Amir and took the banner. I rushed at Ibn Durayd and killed him and took the banner. Then I returned to find the people. When the Messenger of God ﷺ saw me carrying the banner, he said: 'Has Abu 'Amir been killed?' I said: 'Yes, O Messenger of God.' The Messenger of God ﷺ raised his hands supplicating for Abu 'Amir and said: 'O God, give Your servant Abu 'Amir and place him among the most numerous on the Day of Resurrection.'
