machine translationJuwaybir narrates it from al-Ḍaḥḥāk, from al-Nazzāl, and Maʿmar raised it (to the Prophet) from Juwaybir. Ayyūb b. Suwayd followed him, from al-Thawrī. But Muḥammad b. Kathīr contradicted him, from al-Thawrī, and made it a statement of a Companion (mawqūf). Likewise Ḥammād b. Zayd and Isḥāq b. al-Rabīʿ narrated it from Juwaybir as mawqūf, and that is the preserved (maḥfūẓ) version. ʿAbdullāh b. Muḥammad b. Ziyād al-Naysābūrī narrated to us, he said: Baḥr b. Naṣr al-Khawlānī narrated to us, he said: Ayyūb b. Suwayd narrated to us, from Sufyān al-Thawrī, from Juwaybir, from al-Ḍaḥḥāk, from al-Nazzāl b. Sabrah, from ʿAlī b. Abī Ṭālib. Ayyūb b. Suwayd said: I think he said that from the Prophet ﷺ.
