حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى بْنِ شَيْبَةَ، ثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثَنَا سَعْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ، يَقُولُ:

بَعَثَنِي أَبُو طَلْحَةَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ بِحَرِيرَةٍ صَنَعَهَا لَهُ، يَخْتَصُّهُ بِهَا، فَقَالَ: اذْهَبْ، فَادْعُ لِيَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ، قَالَ: فَانْطَلَقْتُ إِلَيْهِ، فَلَمَّا نَظَرَ إِلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ فِي أَصْحَابِهِ أَبَّدَ بَصَرَهُ إِلَيَّ حَتَّى نَظَرَ إِلَيَّ الْقَوْمُ جَمِيعًا، فَخَجِلْتُ، فَقَالَ: أَرْسَلَ إِلَيْنَا أَبُو طَلْحَةَ ؟ فَقُلْتُ: نَعَمْ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " قُومُوا " قَالَ: فَقَامَ النَّاسُ مَعَهُ، فَانْطَلَقْتُ أَسْعَى إِلَى أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ الْخَبَرَ فَقَامَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّمَا جَعَلْتُ شَيْئًا لَكَ لَا يَسَعُهُمْ، فَقَالَ: " سَيَسَعُهُمْ إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ " فَدَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ، فَدَعَا بِالْبَرَكَةِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: " ائْذَنْ لِعَشَرَةٍ ". قَالَ: فَدَخَلُوا، فَأَكَلُوا حَتَّى اكْتَفَوْا، ثُمَّ خَرَجُوا، فَقَالَ: " ائْذَنْ لِعَشَرَةٍ آخَرِينَ ". فَدَخَلَ عَشَرَةٌ، فَأَكَلُوا حَتَّى اكْتَفَوْا جَمِيعًا، ثُمَّ أَخَذَ مَا بَقِيَ فَجَمَعَهُ، ثُمَّ دَعَا فِيهِ بِالْبَرَكَةِ، فَعَادَ لِمَا كَانَ، فَقَالَ: " دُونَكُمْ هَذَا

Translation

✧ Abu Talhah sent me to the Messenger of God ﷺ with a harīrah (a kind of porridge) that he had made for him, singling him out for it. He said: “Go and call the Messenger of God ﷺ for me.” He said: So I went to him, and when the Messenger of God ﷺ saw me among his companions, he fixed his gaze on me until all the people looked at me, and I became embarrassed. He said: “Has Abu Talhah sent for us?” I said: “Yes.” The Messenger of God ﷺ said: “Arise.” He said: So the people arose with him. I went running to Abu Talhah and told him the news. He went to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said: “O Messenger of God, I only made something for you that will not be enough for them.” He said: “It will be enough for them, God willing.” The Messenger of God ﷺ entered and invoked blessing, then said: “Give permission to ten.” He said: So they entered and ate until they were satisfied, then they left. He said: “Give permission to ten others.” Ten entered and ate until they were all satisfied. Then he took what remained, gathered it, invoked blessing upon it, and it returned to what it had been. He said: “Take this.”
