حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عِرْسٍ، ثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْيَمَامِيُّ، ثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، ثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ:
صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَاةَ الْعَصْرِ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ فِي الرَّابِعَةِ، أَقْبَلَ الْحَسَنُ وَالْحُسَيْنُ حَتَّى رَكِبَا عَلَى ظَهْرِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، فَوَضَعَهُمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ، وَأَقْبَلَ الْحَسَنُ، فَحَمَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْحَسَنَ عَلَى عَاتِقِهِ الْأَيْمَنِ، وَالْحُسَيْنَ عَلَى عَاتِقِهِ الْأَيْسَرِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِخَيْرِ النَّاسِ جَدًّا وَجَدَّةً ؟ أَوْ أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِخَيْرِ النَّاسِ عَمًّا وَعَمَّةً ؟ أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِخَيْرِ النَّاسِ خَالًا وَخَالَةً ؟ أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِخَيْرِ النَّاسِ أَبًا وَأُمًّا ؟ هُمَا الْحَسَنُ وَالْحُسَيْنُ، جَدُّهُمَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ، وَجَدَّتُهُمَا خَدِيجَةُ بِنْتُ خُوَيْلِدٍ، وَأُمُّهُمَا فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، وَأَبُوهُمَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، وَعَمُّهُمَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، وَعَمَّتُهُمَا أُمُّ هَانِئٍ بِنْتُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، وَخَالُهُمَا الْقَاسِمُ ابْنُ رَسُولِ اللهِ، وَخَالَتُهُمَا زَيْنَبُ، وَرُقَيَّةُ، وَأُمُّ كُلْثُومٍ، وَبَنَاتُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، جَدُّهُمَا فِي الْجَنَّةِ، وَأَبُوهُمَا فِي الْجَنَّةِ، وَجَدَّتُهُمَا فِي الْجَنَّةِ، وَأُمُّهُمَا وَعَمُّهُمَا وَعَمَّتُهُمَا فِي الْجَنَّةِ، وَخَالَاتُهُمَا فِي الْجَنَّةِ، وَخَالُهُمَا فِي الْجَنَّةِ، وَهُمَا فِي الْجَنَّةِ، وَأُخْتُهُمَا فِي الْجَنَّةِ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed the 'Asr prayer. When he was in the fourth rak'ah, al-Hasan and al-Husayn came forward until they climbed onto the back of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He placed them before him, and al-Hasan came forward. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ carried al-Hasan on his right shoulder and al-Husayn on his left shoulder. Then he said: 'O people, shall I not tell you of the best of people in grandfather and grandmother? Shall I not tell you of the best of people in paternal uncle and paternal aunt? Shall I not tell you of the best of people in maternal uncle and maternal aunt? Shall I not tell you of the best of people in father and mother? They are al-Hasan and al-Husayn. Their grandfather is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and their grandmother is Khadijah bint Khuwaylid. Their mother is Fatimah bint the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and their father is 'Ali b. Abi Talib. Their paternal uncle is Ja'far b. Abi Talib, and their paternal aunt is Umm Hani' bint Abi Talib. Their maternal uncle is al-Qasim son of the Messenger of Allah, and their maternal aunts are Zaynab, Ruqayyah, and Umm Kulthum, the daughters of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Their grandfather is in Paradise, and their father is in Paradise, and their grandmother is in Paradise, and their mother, their paternal uncle, and their paternal aunt are in Paradise, and their maternal aunts are in Paradise, and their maternal uncle is in Paradise, and they are both in Paradise, and their sister is in Paradise.'
