✧ We were sitting in a circle in which were ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar and ʿUbayd b. ʿUmayr. A man came to us and stood over us and said: "Answer so-and-so, answer so-and-so." The people disliked that intensely, and Ibn ʿUmar lowered his head. ʿUbayd b. ʿUmayr raised his head and said: "O son of our brother, excuse us, excuse us." Then Ibn ʿUmar raised his head and said: "Let us get up; there is no exemption in this. I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say: 'Whoever is invited and does not respond has disobeyed God and His Messenger.'"
