✧ I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: I have sworn by the number of these—and he gestured to the fingers of his hands, which were ten—that I will not follow you or follow what you have brought. So I ask you by Allah, what is your religion with which Allah sent you? He said: Allah sent me with Islam. He said: And what is Islam? He said: "That you say: I have submitted myself to Allah, and I have turned my face to Him, and you establish prayer and give zakah. Two brothers who are helpers, and that Allah will not accept from anyone a repentance if he associated partners after his Islam." I said: What is the right of our wives upon us? He said: "Feed when you eat, clothe when you are clothed, do not strike the face, do not revile, and do not abandon except in the house." Then he said: "Here you will be gathered," and he gestured toward Syria, "on foot and riding, on your faces. You will come to Allah on the Day of Resurrection with muzzles on your mouths. The first thing that will speak from one of you will be his thigh. You will complete seventy nations, you are the last of them and the most noble of them to Allah. And there is no master who comes to his master and asks him for some surplus he has and he withholds it, except that a serpent will come to him on the Day of Resurrection lolling its tongue at him. And a man from those before you, Allah gave him abundant wealth and children, until when one pressing passed and one pressing remained, when death came to him, he said to his family: What kind of man was I to you? They said: The best of men. He said: I will take back everything I gave you or you will do what I command you. They said: We will do what you command us. He said: When I die, throw me into the fire, and when I become charcoal, crush me, then scatter me on a windy day. Then he called upon Allah, and he came as he was. He said: What made you do what you did? He said: Fear of You, O Lord. He said: And he recited about him: 'And my Lord'"
