حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ مُكْرَمٍ، قَالَ: نَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ السَّكَنِ، قَالَ: نَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ، قَالَ: نَا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُرَيْدِ بْنِ مَالِكِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ السَّلُولِيُّ، قَالَ: نَا بُرَيْدُ بْنُ مَالِكِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّهُ
شَهِدَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ الشَّجَرَةِ، يَوْمَ إِذِ الْهَدْيُ مَعْكُوفًا قَبْلَ أَنْ يَبْلُغَ مَحِلَّهُ، وَأَنَّ رَجُلًا جَاءَ يَوْمَئِذٍ إِلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ: يَا مُحَمَّدُ مَا يَحْمِلُكَ عَلَى مَا أَرَى ؟ تُرِيدُ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ هَؤُلَاءِ، وَنَحْنُ لَهُمْ كَارِهُونَ، مِنْ أَفْنَاءِ الْقَبَائِلِ ؟ قَالَ: هَؤُلَاءِ خَيْرٌ مِنْكَ وَمِمَّنْ أَخَذَ أَخْذَكَ، يُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ، وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ لَقَدْ ؓ ".

✧ He was present with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of the tree, the day when the sacrificial animals were detained before reaching their place of sacrifice. A man came to him that day and said: 'O Muhammad, what makes you do what I see? Do you want these people to enter, while we dislike them, from among the scattered tribes?' He said: 'These are better than you and better than those who follow your example. They believe in Allah and the Last Day. By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, they are indeed good.' ؓ
