حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْأَحْمَرِ النَّاقِدُ، قَالَ: نَا عَمَّارُ بْنُ طَالُوتَ، قَالَ: نَا سَهْلُ بْنُ حَسَّانَ الْكُوفِيُّ، قَالَ: ثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ هَيْثَمِ بْنِ عِرَاكِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ

كَانَ يُكْثِرُ أَنْ يَدْعُوَ بِهَذَا الدُّعَاءِ: اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِي أَخْشَاكَ حَتَّى كَأَنِّي أَرَاكَ أَبَدًا حَتَّى أَلْقَاكَ، وَأَسْعِدْنِي بِتَقْوَاكَ، وَلَا تُشْقِنِي بِمَعْصِيَتِكَ، وَخِرْ لِي فِي قَضَائِكَ، وَبَارِكْ لِي فِي قَدَرِكَ حَتَّى لَا أُحِبَّ تَعْجِيلَ مَا أَخَّرْتَ، وَلَا تَأْخِيرَ مَا عَجَّلْتَ، وَاجْعَلْ غِنَائِي فِي نَفْسِي، وَأَمْتِعْنِي بِسَمْعِي وَبَصَرِي، وَاجْعَلْهُمَا الْوَارِثَ مِنِّي، وَانْصُرْنِي عَلَى مَنْ ظَلَمَنِي، وَأَرِنِي فِيهِ ثَأْرِي، وَأَقِرَّ بِذَلِكَ عَيْنِي.

✧ He used to frequently make this supplication: 'O Allah, make me fear You as if I see You always until I meet You. Make me happy through piety toward You, and do not make me wretched through disobedience to You. Choose for me in Your decree, and bless me in Your ordainment, so that I do not wish to hasten what You have delayed or delay what You have hastened. Make my richness within myself, and grant me enjoyment of my hearing and my sight, and make them my heirs. Grant me victory over those who wrong me, and show me my retribution against them, and comfort my eyes with that.'
