✧ We used to refrain from seeking forgiveness for those who commit major sins, until we heard our Prophet ﷺ say: 'I have reserved my intercession for the major sinners of my ummah on the Day of Resurrection.' So we refrained from much of what was in our hearts, and we hoped for them.

  • Abū al-Ḥasan Nur al-Dīn ʿAlī b. Abi Bakr al-Haythamī

machine translationIn it is Ḥarb b. Surayj, whom more than one scholar has declared trustworthy (wathaqahu), though there is weakness (ḍaʿf) in him; and the rest of its narrators are narrators of the Ṣaḥīḥ.

    in المعجم الأوسط, p. 5948

machine translationNo one narrates this from Ayyūb with this chain except Ḥarb b. Surayj, and he does not have many hadiths. It is as though his hadiths are rare reports (gharāʾib) and solitary narrations (afrād), and I hope that there is no harm in him (lā baʾs bihi).
