حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ التَّمَّارُ، قَالَ: نَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ، وَمُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ التَّبُوذَكِيُّ، قَالَا: نَا يَحْيَى بْنُ زُرَارَةَ بْنِ كَرِيمِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو السَّهْمِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ جَدِّهِ الْحَارِثِ
أَنَّهُ لَقِيَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ، وَهُوَ عَلَى نَاقَتِهِ الْعَضْبَاءِ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ اسْتَغْفِرْ لِي، فَقَالَ: غَفَرَ اللهُ لَكُمْ، ثُمَّ اسْتَدَرْتُ مِنَ الشِّقِّ الْآخَرِ رَجَاءَ أَنْ يَخُصَّنِي، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ اسْتَغْفِرْ لِي، فَقَالَ: غَفَرَ اللهُ لَكُمْ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، الْفَرَائِعُ وَالْعَتَائِرُ ؟ فَقَالَ: مَنْ شَاءَ فَرَّعَ، وَمَنْ شَاءَ عَتَرَ، وَمَنْ شَاءَ لَمْ يَعْتِرْ، وَفِي الْغَنَمِ أُضْحِيَّتُهَا، ثُمَّ قَالَ: أَلَا إِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَامٌ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِي شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا.

✧ He met the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the Farewell Pilgrimage, while he was on his she-camel al-ʿAḍbāʾ. He said: I said, 'May my father and mother be sacrificed for you, O Messenger of Allah, seek forgiveness for me.' He said, 'May Allah forgive you all.' Then I turned around to the other side hoping that he would single me out, and I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, seek forgiveness for me.' He said, 'May Allah forgive you all.' Then a man said, 'O Messenger of Allah, what about the farāʾiʿ and the ʿatāʾir?' He said, 'Whoever wishes may offer a faraʿ, whoever wishes may offer an ʿatīra, and whoever wishes may not offer an ʿatīra; and in sheep there is their uḍḥiya.' Then he said, 'Verily your blood and your wealth are inviolable upon you, like the sacredness of this day of yours in this month of yours.'
