حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، قَالَ: نَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، قَالَ: نَا فِرْدَوْسُ بْنُ الْأَشْعَرِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ
أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ أَتَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَقَدْ خَضَبَ بِالصُّفْرَةِ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: مَا هَذَا الْخِضَابُ، أَعْرَسْتَ ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ. قَالَ: أَوْلَمْتَ ؟ قَالَ: لَا، فَرَمَى إِلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِنَوَاةٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ، وَقَالَ: أَوْلِمْ وَلَوْ بِشَاةٍ.

✧ Abd al-Rahman b. Awf came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ having dyed his beard with yellow dye. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked him: "What is this dye? Have you married?" He said: "Yes." The Prophet asked: "Have you given a wedding feast?" He said: "No." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ threw him a gold date-stone and said: "Give a wedding feast, even with one sheep."
