حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، قَالَ: ثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ الْقَطَوَانِيُّ، قَالَ: نَا مَنْصُورُ بْنُ صُقَيْرٍ، قَالَ: نَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لِرَجُلٍ مِنَ الْعَرَبِ: إِذَا نَزَلَتْ بِكُمْ رَغْبَةٌ أَوْ رَهْبَةٌ، إِلَى مَنْ تَفْزَعُونَ ؟ قَالُوا: إِلَى اللهِ، قَالَ: فَإِذَا أَجَابَكُمْ فَإِلَى مَنْ تَعُودُونَ ؟ قَالُوا: إِلَى مَا تَعْلَمُ. قَالَ: تَعْلَمُونَ وَلَا تَعْمَلُونَ، وَتَعْمَلُونَ وَلَا تَعْلَمُونَ، ثَلَاثًا.

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to a man from the Arabs: When desire or fear befalls you, to whom do you turn? They said: To Allah. He said: Then when He answers you, to whom do you return? They said: To what you know. He said: You know but do not act, and you act but do not know - three times.
