حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ قَالَ: نَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ مِهْرَانَ أَبُو خَالِدٍ الْخَبَّازُ قَالَ: نَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ قَالَ:

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى ابْنِ عُمَرَ، فَقَالَ: مَا تَقُولُ فِي عَلِيٍّ ؟ فَقَالَ: هُوَ ذَاكَ بَيْتُهُ قَالَ: فَمَا تَقُولُ فِي عُثْمَانَ ؟ قَالَ: " مَا أَقُولُ فِي رَجُلٍ أَذْنَبَ ذَنْبًا فِيمَا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ اللهِ، فَعَفَا عَنْهُ، وَأَذْنَبَ ذَنْبًا فِيمَا بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُ، فَقَتَلْتُمُوهُ

Translation

✧ A man came to Ibn Umar and said, "What do you say about Ali?" He said, "That is his house." He said, "What do you say about Uthman?" He said, "What can I say about a man who committed a sin between himself and God, and God forgave him, and committed a sin between you and him, and you killed him?"
