حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي خَيْثَمَةَ قَالَ: نَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ قَالَ: نَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَجِيدِ الثَّقَفِيُّ، عَنِ الْمُهَاجِرِ أَبِي مَخْلَدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَا:

أُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِحُلَلٍ، فَبَعَثَ إِلَى عُمَرَ بِحُلَّةٍ، فَجَاءَ عُمَرُ بِحُلَّتِهِ يَحْمِلُهَا عَلَى يَدَيْهِ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، بَعَثْتَ إِلَيَّ بِهَذِهِ الْحُلَّةِ الْحَرِيرِ، وَقَدْ قُلْتَ فِيهَا مَا قُلْتَ ؟ قَالَ: إِنِّي لَمْ أَبْعَثْ بِهَا إِلَيْكَ لِتَلْبَسَهَا، وَلَكِنْ بِعْهَا وَاسْتَنْفِعْ بِثَمَنِهَا

✧ The Prophet ﷺ was brought some robes. He sent a robe to Umar. Umar came carrying his robe on his hands and said: “O Messenger of God, you sent me this silk robe, and you said about it what you said?” He said: “I did not send it to you to wear it, but sell it and benefit from its price.”
