✧ We were with Anas b. Malik, and he said: I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ—when a man was brought to him for the funeral prayer—say, “Does your companion owe any debt?” They said, “Yes.” He said, “What benefit is it to you that I pray over a man whose soul is held in pledge in his grave and does not ascend to heaven? If a man guarantees his debt, I will stand and pray over him, for my prayer will benefit him.”
