✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ owed a man of Banu Sa'idah a wasq of dates. The man came to him demanding repayment, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered a man from the Ansar to repay him. He repaid him with dates inferior to his own, but the man refused to accept them. He said, 'Do you reject what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gives?' He replied, 'Yes, and who is more entitled to justice than the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?' The eyes of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ filled with tears, then he said, 'He has spoken the truth. Who is more entitled to justice than I? Allah does not sanctify a community in which the weak cannot take their right from the strong without being hindered.' Then he said, 'O Khawlah, count for him, anoint it, and repay him. There is no debtor who leaves his creditor pleased except that the beasts of the earth and the fish of the seas pray for him. And no servant who delays repaying his creditor while he is able, except that Allah records a sin for him every day and night.'
