حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَعْيَنَ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ قَالَ: نَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْمِقْدَامِ الْعِجْلِيُّ قَالَ: نَا أَصْرَمُ بْنُ حَوْشَبٍ قَالَ: نَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ وَاصِلٍ الضَّبِّيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ:

أَتَى عَبَّاسٌ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنِّي أَتَيْتُ قَوْمًا يَتَحَدَّثُونَ، فَلَمَّا رَأَوْنِي سَكَتُوا، وَمَا ذَلِكَ إِلَّا أَنَّهُمُ اسْتَثْقَلُونِي، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: أَقَدْ فَعَلُوهَا ؟ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَا يُؤْمِنُ أَحَدُهُمْ حَتَّى يُحِبَّكُمْ لِحُبِّي، يَرْجُونَ أَنْ يَدْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ بِشَفَاعَتِي، وَلَا تَرْجُوهَا بَنُو عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ

✧ Al-Abbas came and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I came upon a people conversing, and when they saw me they fell silent. That is only because they found me burdensome." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Have they done that? By the One in whose hand is my soul, none of them believes until he loves you for my love. They hope to enter Paradise through my intercession, but the Banu Abd al-Muttalib do not hope for it."
