✧ I, Muhammad b. Ali, and another man from the Alawis entered upon Jabir b. Abdullah. He said: 'Who are you two?' The two Alawis identified themselves, and he recognized them, and I identified myself. He said: 'I do not know you.' I said: 'If you do not know me, then Allah knows me.' He said: 'What does Jabir's knowing you avail you?' I said: 'Pray with us as you saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pray.' He said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray Zuhr when the shadow was like a sandal strap, Asr when the shadow was like it and the extent of a sandal strap, Maghrib when the sun set, Isha when the twilight disappeared, and Fajr when dawn broke. Then the next day he prayed Zuhr when the shadow of everything was like it, then prayed Asr when the shadow of everything was twice its length, then prayed Maghrib when the sun set, then prayed Isha with the last third of the night.'
