حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو مَعْمَرٍ الْقَطِيعِيُّ، قَالَ: نَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ:
لَمَّا قُبِضَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ نَزَلَ بِأَبِي مَا لَوْ نَزَلَ بِالْجِبَالِ الرَّاسِيَاتِ لَهَاضَهَا، ظَهَرَ الْكُفْرُ، وَاشْرَأَبَّ النِّفَاقُ، فَمَا اخْتَلَفُوا فِي نُقْطَةٍ إِلَّا طَارَ أَبِي بِخَصْلِهَا وَغَنَائِهَا. قَالَ: وَكَانَتْ تَذْكُرُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ، فَتَقُولُ: كَانَ وَاللهِ أَحْوَذِيًّا، نَسِيجَ وَحْدِهِ، قَدْ أَعَدَّ لِلْأُمُورِ أَقْرَانَهَا

✧ When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was taken, there descended upon my father what, had it descended upon the firm mountains, would have crushed them. Kufr appeared, and hypocrisy raised its head. They did not differ over a single point but that my father flew with its decisive share and sufficiency." He said: "She would mention Umar b. al-Khattab and say: By Allah, he was a man of decisive action, unique in his kind, who had prepared for affairs their equals."
