حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الرَّازِيُّ قَالَ: نَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عِمْرَانَ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ, قَالَ: نَا أَبُو زُهَيْرٍ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَغْرَاءَ قَالَ: نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَتْنِي أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ بِنْتُ مِلْحَانَ أُمُّ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، مِنْ فِيهَا إِلَى أُذُنِي، قَالَتْ:

أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ فِي بَيْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، فَوَجَدْتُ عِنْدَهُ رِجَالًا، فَجَلَسْتُ حَتَّى قَامُوا، فَلَمَّا خَرَجَ دَنَوْتُ مِنْهُ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَمْرٌ يُقَرِّبُنِي إِلَى اللهِ أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَسْأَلَكَ عَنْهُ، إِذْ شَكَكْتُ فِيهِ قَالَ: أَصَبْتِ يَا أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ. قُلْتُ: هَلْ تَغْتَسِلُ الْمَرْأَةُ إِذَا رَأَتْ فِي مَنَامِهَا مَا يَرَى الرَّجُلُ ؟ قَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ: تَرِبَتْ يَدَاكِ يَا أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ، قَدْ فَضَحْتِ النِّسَاءَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " بَلْ تَرِبَتْ يَدَاكِ يَا أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ، أَرَأَيْتِ لَوْلَا ذَلِكَ مَا أَشْبَهَ الْوَلَدُ أَبَاهُ، نَعَمْ إِذَا رَأَيْتِ ذَلِكَ فَاغْتَسِلِي

✧ I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was in the house of Umm Salamah, and found men with him. I sat until they left. When he came out, I drew near to him and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, a matter that brings me close to Allah—I would like to ask you about it, since I have doubts about it.' He said: 'You have done well, O Umm Sulaym.' I said: 'Should a woman perform ghusl if she sees in her dream what a man sees?' Umm Salamah said: 'May your hands be dusty, O Umm Sulaym! You have exposed women.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Rather, may your hands be dusty, O Umm Salamah! Do you not see that were it not for that, the child would not resemble his father? Yes, if you see that, then perform ghusl.'
