حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الضَّبِّيُّ الْبَصْرِيُّ قَالَ: نَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ رَجَاءٍ الْغُدَانِيُّ قَالَ: أَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ شَبِيبِ بْنِ غَرْقَدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي مَيْثَاءَ الْمُسْتَظِلِّ بْنِ حَصِينٍ قَالَ:
سَمِعْتُ جَرِيرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ وَكَانَ أَمِيرًا عَلَيْنَا، يَقُولُ: بَايَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ إِنِّي رَجَعْتُ، فَدَعَانِي، فَقَالَ: لَا أَقْبَلُ مِنْكَ حَتَّى تُبَايِعَ، وَالنُّصْحَ لِكُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ، فَبَايَعْتُهُ

✧ I heard Jarīr b. ʿAbd Allāh, who was our commander, say: 'I pledged allegiance to the Messenger of God ﷺ, then I turned back. He called me and said: "I will not accept from you until you pledge allegiance,' and sincere counsel to every Muslim.'" So I pledged allegiance to him.
