حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ بْنِ نَجْدَةَ قَالَ: نَا يَحْيَى بْنُ صَالِحٍ الْوُحَاظِيُّ قَالَ: نَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ مَسْلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْجُهَنِيِّ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ أَبِي مَشْجَعَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ قَالَ:
ذَكَرُوا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ الْأَرْحَامَ، فَقُلْنَا: مَنْ وَصَلَ رَحِمَهُ أُنْسِئَ فِي أَجَلِهِ. فَقَالَ: إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ يُزَادُ فِي عُمُرِهِ، قَالَ اللهُ تَعَالَى: فَإِذَا جَاءَ أَجَلُهُمْ لا يَسْتَأْخِرُونَ سَاعَةً وَلا يَسْتَقْدِمُونَ وَلَكِنَّهُ الرَّجُلُ تَكُونُ لَهُ الذُّرِّيَّةُ الصَّالِحَةُ، فَيَدْعُونَ لَهُ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ، فَيَبْلُغُهُ ذَلِكَ. فَذَاكَ الَّذِي يُنْسَأُ فِي أَجَلِهِ
Translation

✧ They mentioned kinship ties in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and we said, 'Whoever maintains his kinship ties will have his lifespan extended.' He said, 'It is not that his lifespan is increased. Allah, exalted is He, said: "When their term comes, they will not remain behind an hour, nor will they precede [it]." But it is a man who has righteous offspring who supplicate for him after him, and that reaches him. That is what is meant by his lifespan being extended.'
