✧ A boy of theirs died, and his father grieved over him with the deepest grief. A man from the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, called Hawshab, said: 'Shall I not tell you of something similar that I witnessed from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?' He said: 'There was a man who used to frequent the Prophet ﷺ with his son. He stayed away for some days without coming to the Prophet ﷺ, so the Prophet ﷺ said: "What has become of so-and-so?" They said: "His son, who used to accompany him, has died." The Prophet ﷺ met him and said: "Would it please you, O so-and-so, that your son be with you as the most energetic of youths? Would it please you, O so-and-so, that your son be a middle-aged man like the best of middle-aged men? Or it will be said to you: 'Enter Paradise as a reward for what was taken from you.'"
