حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ: أَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ: أَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ سَلَّامٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَّامٍ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ قَالَ:

قَالَ رَجُلٌ: مَا الْإِثْمُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ؟ قَالَ: الْإِثْمُ مَا حَكَّ فِي صَدْرِكَ، فَدَعْهُ " قَالَ: فَمَا الْإِيمَانُ ؟ قَالَ: " مَنْ سَاءَتْهُ سَيِّئَتُهُ وَسَرَّتْهُ حَسَنَتُهُ فَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ

✧ A man said: What is sin, O Messenger of God? He said: "Sin is what chafes in your heart, so abandon it." He said: Then what is faith? He said: "Whoever is distressed by his evil deed and pleased by his good deed is a believer."
