✧ The Arabs used to make one year a month and another year two months, and they would not perform the Hajj correctly except once every twenty-six years. That is the postponement (al-nasīʾ) which God, Mighty and Majestic, mentioned in His Book. When the year came in which Abū Bakr performed Hajj with the people, the Hajj coincided with its proper time that year, and God called it the Greater Hajj. Then the Messenger of God ﷺ performed Hajj in the following year, and the people began the months anew. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "Time has returned to its original state as it was on the day God created the heavens and the earth."
