حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ قَالَ: نَا أَبِي قَالَ: نَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي كُدَيْنَةَ يَحْيَى بْنِ الْمُهَلَّبِ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ الْحَارِثِ التَّيْمِيِّ، عَنْ حِبَالِ بْنِ رُفَيْدَةَ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ

أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ فِي الْيَوْمِ الَّذِي يُشَكُّ فِيهِ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ، فَقَالَتْ: " يَا جَارِيَةُ، خَوِّصِي لَهُ سَوِيقًا "، فَقَالَ: إِنِّي صَائِمٌ، فَقَالَتْ: " تَقَدَّمْتَ الشَّهْرَ ؟ " فَقُلْتُ: لَا، وَلَكِنِّي صُمْتَ شَعْبَانَ كُلَّهُ، فَوَافَقَ ذَلِكَ هَذَا الْيَوْمَ، فَقَالَتْ: إِنَّ نَاسًا كَانُوا يَتَقَدَّمُونَ الشَّهْرَ، فَيَصُومُونَ قَبْلَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لا تُقَدِّمُوا بَيْنَ يَدَيِ اللهِ وَرَسُولِهِ

✧ He entered upon 'A'ishah on the day about which there is doubt concerning Ramadan, and she said: "O slave girl, mix some sawiq for him." He said: "I am fasting." She said: "Have you preceded the month?" I said: "No, but I fasted all of Sha'ban, and that coincided with this day." She said: "Some people used to precede the month and fast before the Prophet ﷺ, so Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, revealed: 'O you who believe, do not put yourselves forward before Allah and His Messenger.'"
