✧ Three men from those before you went out seeking provision for their families. Rain overtook them, so they took refuge in a mountain or a cave. A rock fell and blocked them. They said to one another: The rock has fallen and the trace is gone, and no one knows your place except God, Mighty and Majestic. Supplicate by the most reliable of your deeds. One of them said: I had parents, and I used to milk for them into a vessel. When I came to them while they were sleeping, I would stand until they woke up, whenever they woke up, and I disliked that their sleep should be disturbed in their heads. When they woke up, they drank. O God, if You know that I did that only hoping for Your mercy and fearing Your punishment, then open a way for us. A third of the rock moved. The second said: O God, if You know that there was a woman who pleased me, and I wanted her, but she refused to let me have her until I gave her a payment. When she took her payment and her self was settled, I left her. O God, if You know that I did that only hoping for Your mercy and fearing Your punishment, then open a way for us. Two-thirds of the rock moved. The third said: O God, if You know that I hired a worker to work for a day, and he worked and came seeking his wages. I gave him, but he did not take it and was dissatisfied, so I invested it for him until it became all kinds of wealth. Then he came seeking his wages, and I said: Take all this. If I wished, I would not have given him except his wages. O God, if You know that I did that only hoping for Your mercy and fearing Your punishment, then open a way for us. The final third of the rock moved, and they went out walking.
