حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ قَالَ: نَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ قَالَ: نَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي عِمْرَانَ الْجَوْنِيِّ قَالَ: كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ رَبَاحٍ يُحَدِّثُنِي عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ:

هَجَّرْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَعَدْنَا بِالْبَابِ، فَسَمِعَ رَجُلَيْنِ اخْتَلَفَا فِي آيَةٍ، فَخَرَجَ إِلَيْنَا يُعْرَفُ الْغَضَبُ فِي وَجْهِهِ، فَقَالَ: إِنَّمَا هَلَكَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ بِكَثْرَةِ اخْتِلَافِهِمْ

✧ I went early to the Messenger of God ﷺ and we sat at the door. He heard two men disagreeing about a verse, so he came out to us with anger recognizable on his face and said: Those before you were destroyed only because of their frequent disagreement.
