حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُجَاهِدٍ الْقَطَّانُ، قَالَ: نَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبَانَ قَالَ: نَا زَافِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ طُعْمَةَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الْجَعْفَرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي الْجَحَّافِ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ قَالَ:

أَتَيْتُ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ أُعَزِّيهَا عَلَى الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ فَقَالَتْ: دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَجَلَسَ عَلَى مَنَامَةٍ لَهَا، فَجَاءَتْهُ فَاطِمَةُ بِشَنٍّ فَوَضَعَتْهُ، فَقَالَ: ادْعِي حَسَنًا وَحُسَيْنًا وَابْنَ عَمِّكِ عَلِيًّا، فَلَمَّا اجْتَمَعُوا عِنْدَهُ، قَالَ: " اللَّهُمَّ هَؤُلَاءِ خَاصَّتِي وَأَهْلُ بَيْتِي، فَأَذْهِبْ عَنْهُمُ الرِّجْسَ وَطَهِّرْهُمْ تَطْهِيرًا

✧ I went to Umm Salama to console her over [the death of] al-Ḥusayn b. ʿAlī. She said: “The Messenger of God ﷺ entered and sat on a bed of hers. Fāṭima came to him with a water skin and placed it down. He said: ‘Call Ḥasan, Ḥusayn, and your cousin ʿAlī.’ When they gathered with him, he said: ‘O God, these are my special ones and my household, so remove impurity from them and purify them thoroughly.’”
