✧ A woman kept coming to Ibn Mas'ud for a month, and each time he would send her back. Her husband had died without specifying a dower for her. 'Abdullah said: "I will give my opinion on this. If it is right, it is from Allah; if it is wrong, it is from the son of Umm 'Abd. She is entitled to a dower like that of one of her peers, and she inherits, receiving one-fourth or one-eighth." With him was a man from Ashja' among the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who said: "I call Allah to witness that the Prophet ﷺ ruled in this way for a woman of ours called Barwa' bt. Washiq."
