al-Mu'jam al-Awsat 176

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَمَّادِ بْنِ زُغْبَةَ قَالَ: نَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ قَالَ: نَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي قَبِيلٍ قَالَ: وَحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحُبُلِيُّ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ثَوْبَانَ، مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:

مَا أُحِبُّ أَنَّ لِيَ الدُّنْيَا وَمَا فِيهَا بِهَذِهِ الْآيَةِ: يَا عِبَادِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُوا عَلَى أَنْفُسِهِمْ لا تَقْنَطُوا مِنْ رَحْمَةِ اللهِ الْآيَةَ.

✧ I would not love to have this world and all it contains in exchange for this verse: 'O My servants who have transgressed against themselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allah...' (Q. 39:53).
