✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ established brotherhood between the Quraysh and the Ansar, and he made brotherhood between Saʿd b. al-Rabīʿ and ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. ʿAwf. Saʿd said to him: "I have wealth, so it is between me and you in two halves, and I have two wives. Consider which of them is more pleasing to you, and I will divorce her, and when she becomes lawful, marry her." He said: "May God bless you in your family and your wealth. Show me the market." He did not return until he came back with dates and dried curd, having made a surplus. The Messenger of God ﷺ saw on me a trace of yellow [perfume] and said: "What is this?" I said: "I married a woman from the Ansar." He said: "What did you give her as a bridal gift?" I said: "The weight of a date pit in gold." He said: "Hold a wedding feast, even if with a sheep."
