✧ When the Prophet ﷺ conquered Makkah, the people said: Enjoy temporary marriage. I went out with a cousin of mine; he had a cloak and I had a cloak. We proposed to a woman in Makkah. His cloak was better than mine, and I was more handsome and younger than him. She said: A cloak like a cloak, and a man more handsome than a man. I married her and consummated the marriage. Then I returned, and there was the Messenger of Allah ﷺ giving a sermon, saying: I had permitted you temporary marriage, but Gabriel ﷺ came to me and informed me that it is forbidden until the Day of Resurrection. Whoever among you has entered upon a woman, let him not return to her, and do not take back anything of what you have given them.

machine translationAs for the Farewell Pilgrimage, that is a disagreement over al-Rabīʿ b. Sabrah, and the report from him that it was during the Conquest (of Mecca) is more authentic (aṣaḥḥ) and better known.
